summer's beginning.

It's been forever since I've posted! I feel terrible. Life has been a little crazy, but it's about to get crazier.

I just finished my first semester of college with straight As, and have applied to a few places for a job on top of my regular summer job.
I work 10 weeks out of the summer at a local Christian horse camp, teaching kids how to ride and adventuring outdoors with them doing zip lines, ropes courses, and many other things. The camp has been an integral part of my life for so many years, I can barely imagine a summer without it. I've been involved since I was 11 years old slowly moving up in the ranks, first as a camper, then I started taking riding lessons and learning all I could about horses. Fast forward 3 years and I became a Jr. Wrangler. The Jr. Wranglers are our teen volunteers who help with teaching our campers to ride and learn about horses. 3 years after becoming a Jr. Wrangler, at age 17, I was promoted to a paid, full time camp counselor. I've learned so many life lessons, made life long friends that are basically my family and have become a woman I know I would never be without it. It's pretty crazy thinking about how things like my camp can influence a person's life. That's one of the reasons I enjoy working and being a part of this ministry so much, because I know I'm making a difference in the lives of children. It's a passion I pray never leaves my soul.

On a different note, my favorite amusement park, Kings Island, has opened for the summer. My sisters and I both have season passes and go pretty often to ride their record breaking coasters. It's pretty cool that we have the world's longest wooden and world's longest inverted roller coasters. I never would've guessed when I was younger that now I would be riding these giant roller coasters, because when I was younger those tiny little viking boats scared the crap out of me!

Well, that's all for today. Hopefully I'll be back soon!

riding around town (or out in the middle of nowhere, whatever)

After a pretty nasty week of weather, today was super nice and I took advantage of it by biking around the neighborhood. Okay, I admit. I don't live in a neighborhood. I live 15 minutes outside of the nearest town and it's a small, agricultural town that doesn't have any suburbs. So once you're out of city limits and cross the highway, you're out.
So with that said, it's pretty easy to bike around as there's not a lot of vehicular or pedestrian traffic.

I've been biking a lot on my cross training days while doing my Nike+ running plan, which has been amazing. I'm getting ready to start week 3/8 on the coach, and I have felt so much better about my running/fitness/overall health. I would recommend it to anyone who has a little experience running but wants to improve to run longer and easier.

And before I get too distracted and forget what I'm doing, here's a few pictures from my ride today:

That's all for today!

welcome

Hi! I'm Anna, an 18 year old photographer, horseback rider, and Jesus lover.

I'm starting this blog as a form of learning to communicate/write more effectively and just so I can document my life on a different platform besides my physical journal.

On this blog, you'll hear about my workouts, meals, musings from my bible time, life experiences and whatever pops into my head.

I hope you enjoy your stay!
